How to get started as a camgirl

Making money as a cammodel is very profitable and you get to work from home (who doesn’t want that?). But how and where do you get started as a camgirl? I wish I knew all this before I got started. It would have saved me a lot of wasted hours on useless camsites and I would have made so much more money since day 1. And that’s why I’ve created the cammodel starter guide. It’s got all necessary information you’ll need.

The webcam model starter guide:

Get started as a camgirl: The absolute basics:

So, how do camgirls make money? There are multiple ways to earn money in the adult industry. I’ve listed the most profitable below.

Doing webcam shows for money:

The most obvious way to earn money as a camgirl is doing webcam shows. Customers will pay a per minute fee to or they’ll tip you a set amount of money in advance for a camshow. What system you use depends on the webcam website you’re working on. You can read more about that in my Token websites VS pay-per-view websites article.

Earn money selling videos:

An other very populair way to make money as a cammodel is by selling videos and pictures of yourself. All you have to do is create content and upload them to the website(s) of your choice. I recommend uploading your content to as many content sales websites as possible to increase your sales and income. You can find the best websites for selling videos here. Customers can then buy access to your pictures and videos.
The best thing about earning money from selling videos and pictures is that your content keeps selling over and over again but you only have to create and upload it once.

Earn money with phone sex, sexting and answering DMs:

An other great way to earn money as a camgirl is by offering phone sex, sexting or to join websites that pay you to answer private messages.

But let’s be brutally honest here. Other camgirls and myself earn a nice bonus with that every month. But most customers prefer spending their money on camshows or videos. So if you want to make money with phonesex, sexting or answering private messages go for it. You’ll definitely make some money. But please don’t expect the same kind of earnings as you would from doing camshows or selling videos.

How to get paid as a camgirl:

When you work as a webcam model the website(s) you work on pay you. You’re not employed by them. The camsite is just a third party that brings customers and cammodels together and lets you use their software to broadcast your show. Customers pay the website, the website then pays you. How and how often you get paid depends on the website(s) you work on and where you’re based. Not all payment methods are available worldwide.

Most webcam and content sales websites use the same handful of payment providers. You can read all about them in my “Best payment methods for webcam models” article to see which one suits you best. I recommend reading into and choosing a payment provider before you get started as a camgirl. Nothing sucks more than picking a website that doesn’t offer that method and you end up losing a lot of money to payment fees.

You should never take direct payments from a customer. If they offer you a bank transfer, Paypal, Venmo etc you should turn it down and probably ban them from your chatroom. It’s unsafe to give out your name and/or payment details to a random customer. You don’t know what they’re going to do with those details or who they’ll share it with. And 99% of websites will ban your account if you accept or even discuss off-site payments.
